The first service at Spanaway Christian Center was held on Sunday evening, September 11th, 1983, in what had been traditionally called, "the Orange Room" of the west wing, of the principle educational building of Marymount (the former Marymount Military Academy) located at 423 - 152nd Street East in Spanaway, Washington.
SCC was established as a church plant, and an outreach ministry to the Spanaway / Elk Plain / Frederickson community from Peace Assembly Church of Tacoma, WA where Pastor Bronoske served as an Elder and the Senior Teacher of the congregation. Spanaway Christian Center met at the Marymount facility from September 1983 until June, 2009.
In July 1990, SCC purchased a five acre parcel of land located on the northeast corner of 215th Street and 22nd Avenue East in Spanaway. From that time, the congregation and leadership of SCC saved, planned and effected a number of improvements on the property in preparation for the time when they could put up their first building.
In July 2004, the church was able to secure a small loan for the remaining amount needed to put up a 40' X 80' wood-framed structure, which included a sanctuary with a seating capacity of 135. The building also included two large classrooms, a nursery and a small administrative office.
In July 2008, SCC finally secured the necessary building and other related permits to begin construction of their first building. Grounds preparation had already begun, so with financing in place, the church began construction in September 2008.
With the help of friends, and exceptional contractors, the new building was finally completed, and a certificate of occupance issued June 23, 2009. The first service in our new facility was held on Sunday morning, June 28, 2009.
